Trisha + Richard Celebrate 10 Years | North Carolina Portrait Photographer

    Monday, July 21, 2014

There are so many negative images in the media regarding marriage. Terms like "The Old Ball and Chain" and "The Warden" make marriage seem more like jail than anything else. That's why it's such a pleasure to me when I can document a couple who have grown in their relationship and are as vibrant (maybe even more so) as the day they met.

Trisha and Richard both attended Western Kentucky College. With a common love of sports they hit it off, fell in love and soon married. Ten years later they both have accomplished a ton, including 3 beautiful children and T3 Fitness where Trisha is the owner and personal trainer.

I loved photographing these two. Not only are they super stylish, but they are both adorable as well as passionate in their love for one another. Trisha has a smile that can easily light up a room and is a truly beautiful soul. Richard is dapper and also has a soul that is welcoming and beautiful. I love these two together!

Melcina + Johnnie Celebrate 25 Years | Durham Portrait Photographer

    Monday, June 16, 2014

You know that your shoot is going to be special when children reach out to you to plan a surprise shoot for their parents. "Special" This was my immediate thought when I was contacted to photograph Melcina and Johnnie, who have been together for 29 years and married for 25. Together they have raised 3 beautiful children and have gone through much, but they have still managed to keep that playful and romantic spark going.

It was a beautiful thing to just watch Melcina and Johnnie interact with one another. They both look and act as though they're still dating. The love that these two share is SO refreshing and inspirational. What a pleasure, blessing and honor it was to have been chosen to photograph Melcina and Johnnie for their 25th anniversary. I wish the two of you many, many more. Keep inspiring each other, and us!

Graduations & Glow: Alexis Jones Lee | Durham Portrait Photographer

I absolutely love my clients! When I met Alexis, I was greeted by her warm smile, infectious laugh and rambunctious personality. But what immediately struck me was her height! This woman has gams and limbs for days! I asked her how tall she was and she casually replied, "About 5'11, but around 6'2 in these heels.", as she points to the platform stilettos on her feet. Rockstar!!! I knew that our session would be fun.

Alexis is a recent graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. She completed her studies at the College of Arts & Sciences with a B.A. in Visual Communications, and did it while maintaining her household and running a successful business. Gotta love those stories.

One thing that I must mention about Alexis...she has the most beautiful glow to her! You meet her and immediately feel at ease. You know that feeling you get when you've met someone for the first time, but feel like you've known them forever? Yep! That was us on this day. We wound up chatting in Central's parking lot well after her session was done.
